CURRENT PROJECTS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

Inflow and Infiltration Inspections- (NEW)
Start Date: Beginning of February
Completion Date: End of February
The City of Black Diamond with the help of the crew from IPI (Interactive Pipe Inspections) will be inspecting man holes and main sewer lines during the month of February.

The City experiences heavy increases of sewer flow during rain events and the purpose of this study is to pin point I & I (Inflow and Infiltration) in the sewer system.

The crews will all be wearing safety or reflective vests and will be easy to identify.  The camera truck is well marked with IPI logos. This work will only be performed on City streets and will not be on private property without prior notification.

The work will primarily be performed when it is raining.  Some work may occur at night but the only noise will be a generator on the inspection van.

If you have any questions please call Dan Dal Santo at the Public Works 360.886.2560 x 212.

Morgan Street Improvement Project-
Start Date: September 7, 2010
Completion Date: November 23, 2010 (weather permitting)
This project is funded by the King County Community Block Grant (CDBG) program and the State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB). This project will include storm drains, stormwater treatment, sidewalks on the north side of the street and an asphalt overlay. The project is expected to take three months from start to finish. During the time of construction, you can expect delays as one lane will be closed and traffic will have to be flagged through the construction zone. There will be a few short periods where access will be blocked off when the road is paved.

UPDATE 1/19/2011: (NEW)
The Morgan Street sidewalk project is complete except for some minor punch list items, including crosswalk and stop bar painting. The new water garden has been tested on some fairly significant rainstorms and has held runoff, treated the stormwater through imported filter material and infiltrated the stormwater into the ground. On very high runoff events, the water garden may overflow into the wetland to the north of Roberts Drive (as it used to on a regular basis). This project is coming in under budget. Thank you for your patience during construction.

  Meter Replacement Project-
Start Date: August 2009

Completion Date: December 2012
The City Council has given high priority to the replacement and upgrade of the City's water meters. The new meters will have the ability to be read by radio signal from a receiver in one of the City's vehicles. This new system will help the City maintain a high level of efficiency for the Public Works maintenance crew and should provide more accurate readings than old meters.
